If you’ve never taken online music lessons before, it might seem a tad daunting to get started. What do you need to set up for these online lessons? You’ll see that it’s not that hard. So let’s get straight into it.
Here are some basic tips to make your online lesson experience great:
✏️Check your Internet Connection
- First thing is first thing! Your internet connection is VERY important!!
Note: There’s easy way to check your speed. Just go to smart.test/page
(I strongly discourage the use of phones when taking lessons)
✏️Make sure your device is charged for fully prior to starting lessons.
It would be a good idea that the pop a reminder in your phone to charge your device more than 2 hours before your lesson if you are unable to charge while using your device.(s)
Note: Make sure that the Operating System is up to date, if you are using a laptop,
✏️Get an iPhone/iPad or laptop floor stand etc.
If you would want to take lessons regularly, I recommend you invest in an iPad or laptop floor stand.
✏️Camera Setting!?
It would be very important that instructor needs to see your hands clearly so that you need to prepare for this. (find a stand for your device to be setup properly)

✏️Make sure you have backup cables etc. for just in case.
If you have an Apple product and if it could be setting proper, we can use Microsoft Teams.
We do use Microsoft Teams for Online Piano Recital so that please make account(s). Since I strongly encouraged my students to use more than two different devices to realize the high quality effective online piano lessons, It would be definitely better if you can make two accounts so that you can be able to use two different devices at a time for lessons. (e.g. Laptop for keyboard and put iPad on the piano(score stand/next to sheet music etc.) to manage easily to see teacher's hands/keyboard and face, etc.
* Make your Teams account after you enrolled in the Studio
