Online Lessons
All students must be prepared to transition to online lessons at any time if the need arises. Reasons for this transition include: sickness of the teacher, student or an immediate family member, inclement weather, social distancing, and other reasons. If they cannot attend in person, all students have the option of scheduling any lesson online. Students must have a web-enabled device with a working camera and microphone.
Note: Lessons will take place via Zoom and Microsoft Teams with rare exceptions.(LINE, Skype, and FaceTime are acceptable)
Students should have their camera/device setup prior to the start of their scheduled lesson time.
Tips for Online Lessons : https://yumiepiano.weebly.com/online-lessons.html
Student Agreement
The student agrees to:
1) Practice daily (ideally, 5-7 days a week for make good progress),
2) Attend and perform in studio recitals,
3) always make sure to meet the deadline,
4) Keep nails trimmed short for piano,
5) Prepare the complete lesson assignment each week.
・Assignments are made at each lesson, and should be worked on consistently until the next lesson.
Note: The instructor writes specific practice instructions on whiteboard(Jamboard) each week. (for students who prefer to write it by yourself, please prepare your own practice record book for ready to use in lessons)
・The student is expected to read and follow these instructions.
・Students who regularly “forget” to follow practice instructions, will be asked to sign a letter of intent to improve practice habits, and will be given a practice log, which must be signed by a parent each week.
Note:
・A daily practice obtains MUCH better results than a few hours on one or two days. Part of the discipline of learning to play the piano is developing good practice habits. (Concentration and the efficiency are more important than the length)
・Parental support and encouragement is essential for the success of young students. Parents are requested to accompany their young children to lessons whenever possible, and to assist them at home with their piano practice.
・The studio-student-parent good communication is an important key to a student's success. Let's build a good relationship of trust.
